Funmood or Funweb?

Funmood or funweb seems almost identically included by most antimalwares as causing infections.

I don't know what their relations are and their relations to other almost always included web hosts like brothersoft and search box add-ons like mywebsearch. I'm not even sure if they're falls positives, but most of us wanted their toolbars out and gone for good but can't. We've not learned from reading their fine prints and we have to clean out what we want to. You can always go to them and ask for their own uninstallers.

In the case of funweb as causing viral infections on firefox version 17, my solution or the only solution is uninstallation by revo or other uninstaller that has advanced option to delete even registry and leftovers. After advanced uninstalling, you'll still have to open program data and program files to delete mozilla and firefox folders, and check if there are folders too in the user data local etc. and delete it too. After that download a new firefox installer and install after a restart.

If Google Chrome is also infected, it seems only an uninstall of the same kind above will really delete all creeping BHOs. Check toolbarcleaner if you have lots of these though I haven't tested them yet. Toolbarcleaner is claiming to clean 2 million bhos and still counting.

Of course all of these instruction are after you've ran all your antivirus and antimalwares even online atk or tdss and it's still there. This is the final blow you can do to say goodbye to funweb infection in firefox. I don't say though that funweb themselves are malwares. They're not. They're just targets or prone to attacks like firefox, chrome, yahoo, and internet explorer. That's not an expert opinion so quote what the experts say themselves. I'm just helping here if you really like to get rid of them. Go on and God bless with your deletion process.

How to Remove Funmood

You did everything. Tried uninstallers, antimalwares, deleted files and folders, removed toolbars and search box named "Search".

(While search boxes are named "google", "bing", they named it generically "search", quite short of questioning the intention behind.)

But when you use firefox web home page search box, you are still automatically redirected to funmood's search results.

They have named it a fantastic malware that used funmood. Others just dismissed it as only PUP but totally annoying. It depends on what funmood you have installed and from where.

Do two steps below if you want to completely remove it (with the bonus of not uninstalling and removing all your firefox addons and plugins)

FIRST, mozilla told to start firefox in safemode. For version 11 look for safemode in the browser's help tab, click it and the browser will restart.

BUT SECONDLY (this is the most important and I have not found anywhere), check all the boxes to be checked to make safemode permanent and then continue.

That's it. You have to test the home page search box again of firefox to see that you will no longer be redirected again to funmood.

You can add your plug ins, themes, and add ons one at a time while testing if it will not cause a redirect just to be sure. Or you can do it by batch for the ones that you're sure are not causing the redirect.

Praised be Jesus and Mary.
